The Consumers’ Legal Protection Forum (CLPF) has issued a 15-day deadline with effect from June 23 to the State Food and Civil Supplies Department and the IOC to take action against the LPG distributors who are allegedly looting consumers by violating the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000.
The CLPF recently submitted a complaint letter to the IOC general manager and the director of State Food and Civil Supplies/Consumers Affairs, seeking strong action against the erring LPG distributors. In the letter, CLPF chief coordinator Ajay Hazarika and administrator Subashmohan stated that according to the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000, LPG distributors had not deducted Rs 8 from the total price of a cooking gas cylinder when it was collected by a customer himself
